Healing Hearts Summer

This summer, I spent a lot of time preparing for the training to become a Healing Hearts leader. In case you didn't know, Healing Hearts is a non profit organization that has 3 different Bible studies: 1 for women who have had abortions, 1 for men who have had a women in their life have an abortion, and 1 more for women who quite frankly, are just hurt and need some healing. I went through the Binding Up The Broken Hearted(post abortive)study, 2 years ago now and it changed my life. I was so excited when I was recommended for leadership. Just the preperation for confrence entaled a lot of work, and after leaving my kids for the first time, I traveled to Colorado for a week of training. I had the most amazing time! The modules were filled with God's Word and inspiring lessons. The speakers were awsome, Lindsy Morton led worship every day and left us in tears each time. I met so many amazing people! It was really cool. I was lucky enough to have co-led a study with my good friend Sheila before I went to confrence, and was given the opprotunity to go through and co-lead at the same time, The Hem of His Garment study once we got home. I get to see amazing transformations happen by the Grace of God, right in front of my eyes. Through all of this, my husband has been so supportive. I am so greatful and thankful for his love and encouragment. His support is essential. God is so good, I am really excited about this organization, and I really wanted to share my excitement with all of you, too!
So, for those family and friends who I haven't spoke with in awhile, I thought I would give a little bit of information about whats gone on in the Vance house over the last year.
Our oldest, Damian, who will be 14 in March- has only been with us, officially for a year. We spent Christmas Eve 2007 in a court room, being awarded guardianship over him. It was really special. He has stayed with us off and on for many years. In the last year, Damian has worked really hard to make positive changes and I thank all of you who have supported him.
Kristian is 10 now and growing like a weed. He is the sweetest boy and we are so proud of him. With little effort- last year, he made it to the Gates program at his school, and has worked hard to learn new things- he is very interested in learning and he loves science.
Isabelle is 6 and is in 1st grade. She is a lot like me in so many ways, very dramatic, bouncy, and boisterous. Last year, Bella really started to learn about God, and it was really cool to see her come into relationship with Him. She memorizes scripture, but the coolest part is hearing her actually use it and share it. I can go on and on with sweet stories of her sharing scripture and praying with and for friends, but I don't think I would be able to stop.
Hunter is 5 and is doing really well. The last couple of years have been tough on Hunter and I- we have worked really hard, and quite literally- the blood, sweat, and tears have payed off. :) Actually, its kind of cool because we have prayed very specifically over our little man, and God has been so good in answering those prayers. Hunter has gotten so much better at making good choices. He still has aways to go, but he is only 5. He is super strong and loves to show his muscles.
Bryce is a terrible 2 year old! He is all over the place- climbs everything, gets into everything, runs everywhere! But he is our baby, when I look at him, I get a surge of excitement! He's contagious :D His red hair and bright blue eyes are beautiful against his snow white skin. Over the summer we went through more sunscreen then you can imagine! Did I say that he's a mamma's boy!
Brian is a 4th year apprentice in the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union. He has one year left and will be so happy when he journeys out. We will be having a huge celebration the summer of 2010! My husband became a men's ministry leader at our church this year, and I am very proud of him. I know that God is going to do a lot of work in him, through this ministry specifically.
I spend my time running to and fro with the kids. The 4 kids in school, each go to a different school, they are all involved in groups at our church, and they all play multiple sports! I am so greatful to my family and friends who help with the shuttling! I have also been doing Healing Hearts groups and am excited that I finally got to start leading studies online, too. But thats a whole other blog! Love to all, Bree!

My first blog!

This last Christmas, I spent a lot of time thinking about my family and my friends, and how easily it is to loose touch with people you genuinely care about. I always want my life to be open to loved ones, even when I am up to my ears in kids, sports, studies, etc. So here I am! My hope is that through this blog, my friends and family- states away, can still feel apart of our lives. I love you all, and please stay tuned for lots of fun family stories.
